We are hiring for a freelance Communications Contractor (applications closed)

The Centre for Long-Term Resilience (CLTR) is recruiting a freelance Communications Contractor.

Expression of interest form

Deadline: 31 December at 11:59 pm GMT / CLOSED

FULL DETAILS:

About CLTR:

CLTR is an independent think tank with a mission to transform global resilience to extreme risks. We do this by working with governments and other institutions to improve relevant governance, processes and decision making. We are based at Public Hall in London.

Our vision is a safe world with high resilience to extreme risks, such as those from pandemics and emerging technologies.

We focus on two areas of risk where effective governance today could substantially mitigate both current and future threats: artificial intelligence (AI) and biosecurity. To help build this resilience, we also focus on risk management more broadly — the process of both transforming risk governance, and of identifying, assessing and mitigating all extreme risks.

We have three organisational values which guide our behaviour: i) people first, ii) targeted real-world impact and iii) integrity.

You would be supporting a kind, motivated and talented team with big ambitions for the future.

What we are looking for:

You would be responsible for:

  • Media monitoring for relevant news and social media

  • Managing CLTR’s website (owning the process of uploading new content, drafting content and ensuring our content adheres to our house style guide)

  • Social media management (helping draft and schedule posts for X and LinkedIn)

  • Ad hoc written support for our policy units and Head of External Affairs

You would be a good fit for this contractor position if you:

  • Are motivated to help CLTR achieve its mission;

  • Have demonstrable experience working in past roles which involve comms and writing;

  • Have experience working at similar organisations and understand the UK political system (not essential);

  • Have high levels of diligence and attention to detail.

Expertise in AI, biosecurity and risk management is not essential for this position — you’ll have the opportunity to learn about our policy areas on the job.

The tasks are fully remote and part-time, and can be completed flexibly alongside your other commitments. We expect that some parts of the position will be shaped around the interests and abilities of the successful candidate.

We want the best people, and we don’t want biases holding us back. We strongly encourage people of every colour, orientation, age, gender, origin and ability to apply. You are more than welcome to apply if you are returning to the workplace. If you are passionate about CLTR’s mission and think you have what it takes to support us, even if you don’t check all the boxes, please apply. We’d appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.

How to apply:

Please complete this interest form by 31 December at 11:59 pm GMT. Applications are rolling, and priority may be given to early candidates.

For more information, feel free to contact Sophie Dannreuther.
